Happy Wednesday, Rotarians.
Need to Know:
- Our program next week is about the Rainbow Network.
- There are five Tuesdays in August. We will be having a 5th Tuesday Ice Cream Social on August 30th at 12:30 PM at Webco Custom Industries. We will be serving ice cream to the employees and ourselves. There may be a tour of the facilities either before or after the party. More details to come on that later.
- Because Sheila’s will be hosting a large party, on September 13th our regular Tuesday meeting will be held at Smokey J’s. Our District Governor will be attendance, so your attendance will be appreciated.
- Our Rotary District 6080 conference will be at the Hilton Convention Center in Branson on October 21-23.
Meeting Recap
Guests this week: Prospective member Lance Bateman and Karen Stevens’ daughter, Alexis.
Our speaker this week was Cindy Ballard, Director of Development for the Marshfield Community Theater. The Marshfield Community Theater’s slogan is “community theater with heart”. The MCT was formed in 2002, around the time that the new auditorium at the High School was built. The first production was An Evening With Gershwin, which had an attendance of 500. In 2007, the MCT started awarding an annual scholarship at Marshfield H.S. Presently, the MCT is located in a temporary home next to Marshfield Electric, but the board is exploring options for finding a permanent home. There are 7 individuals on the board, and the MCT has approximately 30 members, although participation in productions can involve around 100 people. Each production has open auditions, which means that anyone can audition. Upcoming events include the 3rd annual Haunted House in October and a dinner theater show in November. In March 2017, the children’s show will be Alice in Wonderland. Next year’s summer show is still to be determined.
