Meeting Recap, 4/21/2015

Happy Thursday, Rotarians.

It’s a short newsletter this week since I had to miss Tuesday’s meeting because of a conflict with my court schedule. I want to thank Scott Jones for filling in for me on Tuesday.

Need to Know:

  1. We are having a club social event on Tuesday, April 28th from 7:00-9:00 PM at the 1984 Arcade in Downtown Springfield (Walnut & Jefferson across from the YMCA). We have rented the place for a private event so let’s all have fun playing retro arcade games and pinball. You, your spouses and kids/grandkids are all encouraged to attend. It would also be terrific if we can invite any prospective Rotarians we know to come play “Pacman” with us. There is no admission charge and most arcade games are free. Pinball games are $.25-.50 per game. No outside beverages are allowed but 1984 Arcade sells bottled drinks and snacks so bring some cash if you think you’ll get thirsty. Kids under 8 are welcome to attend but 1984 Arcade requires one-on-one adult supervision for use of its machines by kids under age 8. For more info on the venue, check out www.1984arcade.com.

I hope this goes without saying, but I am saying it anyway: this event is open to all our members and their families. Even if you are on leave of absence or have not been able to attend meetings regularly because of work commitments, we still want you to come. So if you haven’t been at the last two meetings to sign up but plan on attending, please drop me an email to let me know how many in your party will be attending. I do need to give an approximate head-count to 1984 this weekend, so try to let me know by tomorrow (4/24) if you plan on attending. Thanks!

  1. The program lined up for Tuesday has fallen through. If anyone has a speaker to suggest, please drop me an e-mail. Our program on May 5th will be the Marshfield HS Speech and Debate team. Several of its members are headed to Nationals this summer.

Meeting Recap

Our speaker on Tuesday was Kelly Coffey from the Boy Scouts Ozarks Trail District. Kelly is also a member of the Bolivar Rotary Club.
Yours in Rotary Service,

Kristin Grace Krebs
