Meeting Recap, 10/19/2016
Posted By admin
Happy Wednesday, Rotarians.
Need to Know
- Upcoming speakers: On the 25th, Carl Hefner from Business Incubator will be speaking to us. We need speakers for future meetings. If you have any suggestions, please contact Amy Wilkerson.
- On November 11th from 5-6:30 PM, there will be a Veterans Dinner. I don’t have other details, but additional information may be available at future meetings. Or contact Leslie Thomas who brought the dinner to the club’s attention.
- Our Romance Raffle will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at the MAC. As this fundraiser is currently our premier moneymaker, we will be talking a lot about it until February – so prepare yourself for some relentless nagging. The Romance Raffle Committee, and our partners with MACF, are in early stages of preparation, but soon we will need everyone in the club to participate by selling tickets, soliciting sponsors, helping at the event and/or setup, etc., so please be ready to do your part.
Meeting Recap
A little more info on Brian Drane’s new baby girl- welcome to the world, Camryn Elise Drane! Mom and baby are doing well. On a similar note, Leslie Thomas will be a grandmother this spring.
We inducted John Benson as a new member this week. Welcome to the club!
Lauren Holder from the Arc of the Ozarks spoke to us this week about the Arc’s work supporting individuals with disabilities in the Ozarks. The Arc has been in existence for 52 years. It is the second largest non-profit in Springfield. The Arc of the Ozarks serves approximately 650 individuals in 13 counties with physical and/or developmental disabilities, or autism. The Arc provides assistance with residential services, assessment and evaluation, advocacy, camps, and has a private school (Rivendale) for students with autism. The Arc participates in several fundraising and awareness events throughout the year: Give Ozarks Day, Price Cutter Championship, a sport & clay shoot, and two upcoming events – a Christmas Extravaganza at the Bass Pro White River Conference Center on December 9th, and a Hunt & Fish Outdoor Show at the Springfield Expo Center on February 18-19th. If you would like to attend the Christmas Extravaganza or contribute items to the auction, or have a booth at the Hunt & Fish show, contact the Arc of the Ozarks at 417-864-7887.
